Following Knox County Schools and to keep down on confusion, the academy will remain closed tonight (1/18) for classes. Mr. Bailey will be offering extra classes tomorrow (1/19) for students. If you are on the limited membership, you may use Saturday to make up previously missed classes. The class schedule will be as follows:
8:30-9:25 Adult Grappling
9:30-10:25 Kid Grappling-split mat
9:30-10:25 Family Class-split mat (Adult, Teens, Juniors, and Tiger Cubs (cubs present only with adult training partner/parent))
10:30-10:55 Tiger Cub Class
11:00-11:55 Junior & Teen Class
Students may choose to train in more than one class on Saturday (1/19). If students are unable to make the classes as makeup, Mr. Bailey has outlined a 30 minute workout for students to do at home.
Warm Up: 25 Burpees, 25 pushups, 25 crunches, and 25 situps, Stretch Routine (2 min)
Technical Drills: 25 Round Kicks each side, 20 Double Round Kicks Each side; 15 Triple Round Kicks Each Side (Low, High, Low); use focus target.
Tactical Agility Training: Three to five sets of 10 Burpees, 10 pushups, 10 crunches, 10 situps, & 10 Hindu-Squats (fives).Defense & Attack Practice: Headlock Release (5X both sides)
Sport Sparring Drill (Green Belts & Above): Using left leg sparring stance, round kick to partners ribs/head. Partner/Parent blocks using a low block or an outerforearm block.
White & Yellow Belts: Practice One Steps #1,2,3.
- One Step, #1, Guard Up, Left Step Right Hook Block, Round Kick Low, Round Kick High, Land outside the foot, Right Knifehand High
- One Step #2, Guard Up, Left Outside Crescent Kick, Right Front Kick, Right Punch High, Left Punch Low
- One Step # 3, Guard up, Left Front Kick, Sneak, Right Sidekick (X2), Right Knifehand, Step up, grab, right foot sweep, Left Punch
Apprenticeship Program: Mr. Bailey needs everyones T-Shirt size, and honors & Leadership teams need to sign release waiver to go bowling on February 9th. We will ALL meet at the academy before we go over to the bowling lanes.
Team Revolution: A reminder that we have practice next Saturday (1/26). The muscle walk originally scheduled for Feb 2nd has been moved to March 23rd at the Knoxville Zoo. We will discuss the performance, as it could be on the same weekend as our Spring National Championship/week before spring break.
Yellow Belts: Everyone needs to be sized our for their gear by February 2nd. The gear order forms are by the front desk.
Black Belts: We need everyone's black belt order form in by February 2nd. The Black Belt order forms are by the front desk. Reminder, everyone should order the rank higher than the belt that is hanging on the black belt wall.
