  4. Teenage Mutant Turtle Cowabunga Party

  6. Merit Badges
  7. Upcoming Events
Good Afternoon,

It’s here, RANK EXAM WEEK ! Regular Classes Monday thru Friday this week!
We have a week every two months where our schedule is adjusted to hold our testing. That week will be this Saturday thru next Tuesay.

TESTING DETAILS
UNIFORMS: Uniform cannot be rolled up and must be hemmed to fit correctly! No Wrinkles!!!

EXPECTATIONS: We just want 100% you! Be focused, answer loud, run fast and give it all you got!

WHAT IF I DO NOT PASS MY TEST? It would be easy to pass all of our students at testing but then your rank would be meaningless! Students who do not pass will re-test in 2 months at our next exam. Due to not passing, there will be no fee for your next test. There are no refunds for not passing. Just like no one can win every football game, soccer match or spelling bee, no one should expect to pass every TaeKwonDo exam. Not passing simply means the judging panel thinks you need two more months to refine some of the elements of your training. Of course getting a re-test is disappointing! But, if you get a re-test, accept the judging panel’s decision that you need more time to mature in that rank and commit yourself (not your parents or instructor) to work harder to be ready for the next test. We are committed to helping you obtain your goals! Be glad that your instructors care enough about you to help you reach your full potential.

Parents, we are so thankful for you referring your friends to the academy. We are opening up registration for the fall/back to school season. Make sure to let your friends know when they call that you are sending/referring them. We will be starting a referral program for back to school. Just have them name drop your name.

Tiger-Rock Academy Newsletter

For the week of: 07/17-07/26
Cycle Tenet: "Perseverance: Giving up is not an option. If I can dream it, I can achieve it!"

Good Afternoon,

This is week #5 of 8 in our current training cycle for our martial art programs.

Newsletter Highlights:

  1. Goals for the week
  2. World Tournament Competitors Rock Competition!
  3. Priority Exam Registration
  4. S.P.A.R.K. Award
  5. Merit Badges
  6. Tax Free Weekend
  7. Upcoming Events
Wow! The Tiger-Rock World Championship was a Great event:)
Here are a few of my take aways from event:

1. Everyone wants to win but not every one does. GREAT! This is a good thing. I hope it teaches you to plan more, train harder and in return takes you to that next level.

2. Everyone thinks their kid is the best, the cutest and should never lose. GREAT! You should believe in your child more than anyone else in the world. Your child should not see disappointment in your face when they lose. They learn from us how to handle success and defeat.

3. There are bad calls and mistakes. Bad calls are bad calls. You might think I'm a great judge but trust me that if you watch me long enough I WILL screw up. I'm human....I make mistakes. It's not intentional. Trust me, judging happens too fast to plan it. NO ONE WANTS TO BE A BAD JUDGE.

4. Training starts tomorrow for next year. One less coke, 10 more sit ups, 10 minutes of stretching a day, no more French fries...you want to be the best? Prove it. Get off the bench and in the game ALL year. I would walk on the mat tomorrow if possible and trust me I would win. You will not out train me. You can be an animal if you train like one year-round. You feel that you were better but judges went the other way? Make it so obvious that it's undeniable.

5. I could go on and on but let's finish up here. Let's love our team. Not your team but TIGER ROCK. Loyalty is important and I want my guys in my corner but I want to see everyone get better. I don't care who you are and who your instructor is. I'm going to love you and your goofy non retracting side kick. Love me with my passionate over the top personality. Love that kid in your ring that never wins but gives all they have. Love that one that always wins. Love the long days and terrible food:)

Self esteem and value are not centered around wins and losses. You determine that.

The Tiger-Rock World Championships were a blast, and our students and instructors did phenomenal. We are so impressed with everyone's enthusiasm, dedication, and martial art abilities at an event with over 1,500 competitors. Please congratulate the following students and instructors on their accomplishments:

The newly-crowned Miss USA 2014, Nia Sanchez, is a 4th Degree Black Belt with Tiger-Rock Martial Arts and has been training for over 12 years!

When asked the question: “Recently, Time magazine revealed that 19% of U.S. undergraduate women are victims of sexual assault in college. Why has such a horrific epidemic been swept under the rug so long, and what can colleges do to combat this?”

Sanchez replied: “I believe that some colleges may potentially be afraid of having a bad reputation and that would be a reason it’s swept under the rug, because they don’t want it to come out in public. But I think more awareness is very important so women can learn how to protect themselves. Myself, as a fourth degree black belt, I learned from a young age that you need to be confident and be able to defend yourself. And I think that’s something we need to implement for a lot of women.”

She also volunteers at women's shelters, teaching residents how to defend themselves and teaching kids about "stranger danger."

Congratulations, Nia. You serve as an inspiration to all of us! "If I can dream it, I can achieve it."
